In plain English what does NARA promote?

In plain English: NARA promotes fairness and accountability—making sure people can go to court if they’re harmed and that the cost of negligence falls on those who caused it, not families or taxpayers.

What can I do?

Stay informed, follow legislative updates, share educational resources, attend public meetings, and support efforts that defend accountability, public safety, and the right to trial for all Nebraskans.

I am not injured why should I care?

Even if you’re not injured, civil justice laws protect you by promoting safety, preventing negligence, preserving jury trials, and ensuring costs of harm aren’t shifted to taxpayers, employers, or your family.

Can I become a supporter?

Yes. Anyone who supports accountability, public safety, and the right to trial in Nebraska can become a supporter by signing up, staying informed, and helping advance NARA’s advocacy efforts.

Isn’t tort reform good for business?

Tort reform may help careless businesses cut costs, but it hurts responsible ones by rewarding unsafe practices and shifting injury costs to families, employers, hospitals, and taxpayers—undermining safety, fairness, and long-term economic stability.

But I have insurance for accidents.

Insurance doesn’t always make you whole. It has limits, exclusions, delays, and premium hikes—and when laws cap accountability, uncovered costs can shift to you, your employer, hospitals, and taxpayers.
